smite crawler damage
A friend and I are playing with duo build ideas for ecto farming. In Wiki.Guildwars.com it says smites deal slashing damage, yet on guildwars.wikia.com it says they deal piercing damage. Anyone know definitively which it is? thanks

tbh dunno , but a few things to watch with smites - they do aoe smite dmg , will remove hexes and heal each other in the process and they use shield of judgement a lot.
So you face - aoe,kd,normal dmg and soj dmg at times you`ll get them all at once. |

Well, for a start instead of the wikia wiki and use: http://www.guildwiki.org
Although it still gives you the same information. |

I guess you are referring to their meele dmg and not to spells they use such as Shield of Judgement, Zealot's Fire and smite hex.
Anyway: they deal physical dmg so any kind of armor bonus will grant you protection. If you are doubtful about the kind of dmg just try to tank them with a different shield with +vs piercing and + vs slashing. Personal idea: considering their appearance i suppose they deal slashing dmg. Piercing dmg is generally dealt by arrows and some kind of daggers. Also few sowrds and axes deal piercing but very few. |

Thanks for replies all. Yes we've got all the basics covered (e.g. soj etc) as we've done the run many times, but we were looking at a different build setup and I was wondering whether to use a +vs slashing or +vs piercing inscription on a caster shield - as Tender Care suggests, it sounds like the only way to go is to try out both and see what works best. I'm thinking probably slashing as well tbh.
